I am delighted to have been re-selected by NWCCA as their prospective candidate for Stanground South for the local council elections taking place in May 2020.

I’m sure like me most of you are totally fed up with talk of politics and elections but it is important that you as ward residents, use your voting right to decide on who you want to represent you locally. I hope irrespective of any national political party allegiances you will from my past work ethic, consider lending me your support again by way of your vote next year.

You already know from my posts that I have always been very active in the ward doing my best for our ward and you can be assured that this work ethic will continue….I don’t just litter pick at election time.

Apart from the hundreds of individual case work items I’ve dealt with since first becoming a councillor in 2011, together with my colleagues Cllrs Brian Rush & Ray Bisby, we’ve fought and defeated some particularly difficult and totally unsuitable planning applications alongside you such as the Anaerobic Digestion Plant at Horsey Toll Farm and the Chicken Farm and Slaughterhouse near Farcet.

We secured the inclusion of the Whittlesey Road and Pondersbridge Junction in the PCC 5 Year Local Transport Plan and we secured funding from the Combined Authority and PCC to make these improvements happen, the plans I am pleased to advise should be coming out later this or early next year for public consultation.

We lobbied and secured the return to 8 grass cuts a year which has proved much better than in previous years and I’m now lobbying for wild flower meadow planting for some of our grassland areas.

We are in close contact with Persimmon Homes to ensure the build, roadways and footpaths proceed as planned and where difficulties arrive, we work with Persimmons to try and resolve them.

I launched the ‘Clean It Up’ campaign to encourage dog owners to clean up after their pet, and regularly give out free rolls of poo bags and stencil reminders on dog walking routes.

I’m working with the Police, Neighbourhood Watch, Residents Groups and all other local authorities to ensure we tackle Crime and ASB head on when reported.

I take the education and development of our children extremely seriously and many of you will know I’ve now been the LA Governor at Heritage Park Primary School for more than 10 years. Brian & Ray are governors at local schools too.

I won’t be doing any negative campaigning in my literature or on my social media pages or website. I’m a local resident, I was born here in Peterborough and have lived in the ward for over 20 years.

From my campaign material and on the doorstep, you’ll get to know my values, what I stand for, what I’ve done, and what I pledge to do in the future to continue to ensure our ward remains, the best place to live in Peterborough.

I’ve enjoyed a lot of great help in the past from my supporters willing to deliver leaflets and newsletters and again appeal to any of you that could offer a little time to support me to please let me know.

Thank you

Chris
