Although not in our ward, the proximity of the Kings Dyke Level Crossing to us and the possible effect on local traffic makes our inclusion in this consultation very important.
There are around 10,500 trips over the crossing each day, with traffic being delayed by up to seven minutes at times.
The consultation starting on 30th October follows a feasibility study into different options, which was completed last year.
Cambridgeshire County Council are asking A605 users for their views on three possible alternative routes including bridges over the railway line, and in one case, a short bypass.
Project officers will be available to answer questions about the scheme at public exhibitions in both Whittlesey and Peterborough. These will take place on:
- 6 November 3pm – 7.30 pm, St John Ambulance, 2 Plough Road, Whittlesey, PE7 1LT
- 18 November 5pm – 7 pm, Tesco Express, 110 Whittlesey Road, Stanground, Peterborough, PE2 8RJ
- 26 November 4pm – 7.30 pm, Sir Harry Smith Community College, Eastrea Road, Whittlesey, PE7 1XB.
More information on the scheme including visualisations, a map and online questionnaire are available at www.cambridgeshire.gov.uk/kingsdykecross. The consultation runs until the 15th December 2014.
