The garden waste service recommenced on 4 March and over 20,000 bins have been emptied in the first two weeks. Following the approval of the budget, the garden waste collection service will become a paid-for, all year-round, service from 27 May, aimed at saving the council in the region of £800,000 per annum.
The service remains ‘free’ until 27 May. After that time the full £39 rate will apply. An ‘early bird’ discount of £3 applies for households signing up before 20 May 2014.
Further details are included within the latest issue of Your Peterborough.
Residents are assured that under no circumstances will a charge be introduced for residual (black bin) waste or recycling (green bin).
